Therapy for the Modern Woman
Let’s face it— being a woman is stressful. Juggling family, work, friendships, and societal expectations can be very difficult. One of my clinical passions is helping women find a deeper sense of happiness, peace and confidence. My experience includes working with women who are struggling with relationships, transitions, identity, anxiety/depression, setting boundaries, professional setbacks, and motherhood to name a few. My belief is that therapy can provide you with the coping skills, support and encouragement you need to embrace life with more passion and joy. Together we will identify your areas of need and define your goals. One thing I know for sure is that you do not have to go through it alone.
My generalist training has provided me the opportunity to work with all types of women who are struggling in various areas. However, I am particularly passionate about working with the young adult/college population, moms, and female entrepreneurs/executives. My clinical experience and continued education has focused on these particular populations of interest. For more information, see below.
Young Adults/College students
You may still be in college, or just graduated, or you may be in your mid-to-late 20s. Maybe you feel like you should have your life figured out by now or you are questioning what is next. This phase of life often includes some of life’s biggest transitions: breakups, friendship struggles, career decisions, and identity exploration. Either way, navigating your young adults years can be confusing, scary, and overwhelming. You may even think you are the only one that feels this way, well guess what, you definitely are not! My goal is to offer comprehensive and holistic therapy for college students and young adults. Let’s work together to get you to a place where you can feel more confident, secure, and focused.
Being a mom is HARD. Adjusting to motherhood is one of the biggest life changes you will ever experience. It is a time when support is truly needed. Not only is motherhood physically exhausting at times; it can be emotionally draining as well. The highs and pure love are often coupled with lows and uncertainty.
You may be experiencing both highs and lows and/or feelings of ambivalence, you are not alone. These feelings are not a reflection of who you are as a person or mother. Hiding your feelings from others in order maintain an illusion that you "have it all together" can cause even deeper feelings of shame and isolation. Did you know it is estimated that “"15-20% of women experience significant symptoms of depression or anxiety” (Postpartum Support International, 2019)? Seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness.
I am passionate about supporting moms to feel themselves again by providing a space where they can openly discuss struggles. Areas of focus include: pregnancy & postpartum depression and anxiety (perinatal mood and anxiety disorders), neonatal loss, grief/loss from miscarriage, work/life balance, and identity struggles.
My clinical experience includes being a member of the Postpartum Support International (PSI) – an international organization formed in 1983 to help women and families suffering from perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs). I obtained a Maternal Mental Health Certificate from PSI in June 2019.
Female Entrepreneurs & professionals
You’re smart, driven, and capable, but yet you doubt and question yourself constantly. Maybe you have noticed it is getting in the way of your professional passions, goals, or even advancement opportunities. Perhaps you are struggling with balancing between the different roles in your personal life and your professional aspirations. Or maybe you are feeling limited in your ability to communicate assertively in the workplace. Whatever it is, let’s work on it together.
One area of special interest is helping female entrepreneurs and boss ladies find their inner professional strength, voice and confidence. My job is to help smart, high achievers like you get out of your own way, while helping you build skills to let go of perfectionism, communicate confidently, build professional self-esteem and commit to a realistic work/life balance. We will work together to create a individualized plan that helps you get to where you want to go.
