THERAPY IN ENCINITAS & ONLINE ACROSS CALIFORNIA

Therapy for the whole you — mind, body, and nervous system.

I'm Dr. Kelly Vincent, a licensed clinical psychologist helping women heal from anxiety and trauma through an integrative, mind-body approach. In person in Encinitas, and online throughout California.

Give yourself a lot of credit and praise for showing up

However you're arriving, you're welcome here.

Maybe your mind won't slow down. Maybe something from the past still has its hand on your shoulder. Maybe you look like you're handling everything and feel like you're barely holding on. Whatever brought you here, you don't have to have it figured out to begin.

My work is built on a simple belief: you are not a set of symptoms to be managed. You're a whole person – a mind and a body and a nervous system that have been doing their best to keep you safe, sometimes in ways that no longer serve you. Therapy with me is the slow, supported work of helping all of you feel safe enough to soften.

My Philosophy

A nervous-system-informed, integrative approach

Anxiety is more than worrying. Trauma is more than a memory. Both live in the body as much as the mind – in the bracing, the racing, the shutting down, the exhaustion that sleep doesn't touch. So I don't treat symptoms in isolation. I treat the whole system underneath them.

My work is integrative, which means I don't hand you a single method and hope it fits. I draw on several, woven together around you and your goals.

Depending on what you need, our work may move between several modalities. Some people want all of it. Some want to focus on one. We decide together, and it can shift as you do. The throughline never changes: we go where your system is ready to go — not faster.

Who I work With

I specialize in supporting women, mothers, and female business owners.

I work with women navigating the particular chapters of early and mid-adulthood – launching into adulthood, building a career, partnership and marriage, trying to conceive, becoming a mother, and the historical wounds that tend to surface right as everything else is happening at once. Some of the women I most love working with struggle with:

Section Styles lined-list

  • Post-traumatic stress

  • Nervous system dysregulation

  • Imposter syndrome

  • Burnout

  • Career and work stress

  • Maternal mental health

  • Life transitions and Identity shifts

  • Self-esteem and confidence

Ways we can work together

The approaches I weave in

These aren't separate services to choose between – they're tools within one integrative approach, and I bring in whatever serves you. Sometimes that's all of them across our work together; sometimes it's a focused stretch of one. A few come up often enough that they have a page of their own, if you'd like to understand them in depth.

  • EMDR Therapy & Intensives

A structured, evidence-based approach to healing trauma and stuck patterns

Intensive formats for deeper, faster work for reprocessing trauma and the beliefs behind it.

  • Somatic Therapy

Body-based work that helps you release what talk alone can't reach

Build a felt sense of safety through breathwork, guided meditation and visualization, gentle yoga postures and movement, and somatic tracking and awareness. This is where the nervous-system work lives.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Gentle "parts work" to meet the different parts of you

Meet the parts of you – the anxious one, the perfectionist, the protector – with compassion, curiosity instead of judgement, and help them find relief.

  • Insight & Attachment-Based Therapy

Depth work that helps you understand how your early relationships shaped your patterns

So much of how you relate to yourself and others was shaped early. When you understand where your patterns began, you can gently rewrite them.

Not sure what you need?

That's exactly what our first conversation is for.

my holistic mind-body approach

Why I work top-down and bottom-up

Traditional talk therapy is mostly "top-down" – we use the thinking brain to understand feelings, challenge beliefs, and make meaning. It's powerful, and it's often not enough on its own. You can understand your anxiety completely and still feel it running through you.

So I also work "bottom-up" – starting with the body and nervous system directly, through somatic practices, breath, movement, and regulation. Because anxiety and trauma don't only live in your thoughts; they live in your body, in a nervous system that learned to brace or shut down long before words were involved. This is the piece where the deeper shift often happens.

Working from top-down and bottom-up tends to the layers underneath the symptoms and helps your mind connect to your body so they stop working against each other. Bringing both directions together tends to create change that's deeper and more lasting than either one alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if we're the right fit?

The best way to find out is to talk. I offer a free consultation so you can get a feel for how I work and whether it feels safe and right to you – which matters more than almost anything else in therapy. You can usually sense pretty quickly whether someone's approach fits.

How often would we meet?

Most people start weekly. Consistency builds momentum and safety early on – a bit like the gym, where showing up regularly moves you further than an occasional visit. As you progress, we may space sessions out. We'll find the rhythm that fits your needs.

How long until I feel better?

It varies. Some people feel relief in the first few sessions; for others it's a series of small shifts that add up, with the occasional bigger "aha." Because we work with both mind and body, that dual approach can often help change take root more deeply.

What happens in a first session?

Mostly, I get to know you – what brought you in, what you're hoping for, and a bit of your history – in a space designed to feel safe and unhurried. It's also a chance to experience how I blend talk therapy with body-based work.

Do you offer in-person and online therapy?

Both. I see clients in person at my Encinitas office. I see clients virtually anywhere in California, with the same integrative, mind-body approach as in person – from wherever you feel most comfortable.

Do you only work with women?

My practice is focused on women moving through early and mid-adulthood – navigating anxiety, trauma, career, relationships, motherhood, and the identity shifts that come with this stage of life. That focus is what lets me go deep rather than broad.

When you're ready, I'm here.

Reaching out is often the hardest part. If you're feeling even a small pull toward this work, let's start with a free consultation — no pressure, no commitment, just a conversation.
