Somatic Practice: Butterfly Hug

Somatic practice to soothe your nervous system

Our nervous system controls all of the automatic processes in our body, including breathing, heart rate, and digestion. When we experience stress, anxiety, or trauma, our nervous system can become dysregulated, which can lead to a range of physical and emotional symptoms. Soothing our nervous system can help us to feel more relaxed, calm, and centered, and can reduce the symptoms of anxiety and stress, as it allows us to move into the Parasympathetic Nervous System state. Somatic practices, such as the Butterfly Hug, can be a powerful tool for regulating the nervous system and promoting overall well-being. Bookmark this practice to return any time you need.

As a gentle reminder, The Studio is not a replacement for therapy. If you live in California and are interested in a consultation, please reach out to me. Otherwise, Psychology Today is a great tool to find a licensed clinician in your area.
