Somatic Healing Work: Exploration and Gentle Practices

WHAT TO EXPECT

Welcome in.

We created this download for those of you who are interested in healing from a holistic, mind-body perspective. Somatic work focuses on our physical body and our felt sense — this is the body part of the mind-body connection. In recent research, research has shown us just how integral the body is to healing, especially from trauma.

This guide begins with an overview of somatic therapy and how it works. After the introduction, we offer guided exercises for tapping into the body, understanding how the body communicates with us, and exploring how it holds our past experiences. We encourage you to play around with a handful of the practices to find what feels best for you.

Just a reminder, settling into somatic healing takes patience, practice, intention, and effort. This work is a marathon, not a sprint. We encourage you to digest the information at a pace that works for you, and then work to slowly integrate the guided practices. The connection between you, your body, and your mind will continue to build over time.

This download is a good fit if you:

  • Want to learn more about the mind-body connection

  • Are curious about somatic work and bringing the body

  • Are open to trying a few exercises to tap into your body
